Welcome to my site! here I will write down all my music reviews and sound opinions. stick around to see that, or don't.
All of the music is divided into different rough genres, based upon the average sound of the musicmaker(s), meaning that if a band mostly produces twang, but has one aah track in an album, you'll find it in the twang category probably. In some exceptional cases it might be in both:3
The categories can be a little confusing to some so let me explain them to you below with some lovely examples.
music categories explained
If it wasn't already obvious, I'm autistic. to me music is very important and helps me process and explore my feelings. each sound feels and tastes different to me, and can be divided into a few vauge categories which i have identified as Twang, glorb, raah, waaugh, and aah. explenations and examples can be found below.
- twang - twangy music can be described as songs that jump out and grip you in the chest, make you feel like it's blending into all of your being or giving you a crazy out of body moment when you hear it. Not just because you like it, but in general the chord progessions could make you see stars. it's crazy, it's world ending and it sets you on fire within.
EXAMPLES OF TWANG - The phoenix - fall out boy , Human - the killers. As the world caves in - Matt Maltese. - glorb - glorb music is sorta wacky, a little weird silly guy in slacks with curly hair handing you a slimy egg. a bit nerdy, maybe 8-bit at times, maybe a bit disorganised and sporadic. you groove with it, you appreciate it in all its funky glory. bad dance moves at a disco. being shaken by the shoulders aggressively.
EXAMPLES OF GLORB - drop it doe eyes - los campesinos , as your father I expressly forbid it - lemon demon , RATS - louie zong. - raah - raah is your angery stuff. revenge and not caring, anything uncontrollable. not even angry sometimes but just deathly passionate, roaring with feeling and emotion, screaming and clawing at the walls of it's containers, and crying out on a stage in front of a whole world. home to some crazy moshing and soulful lyrics, as well as straight up Noise at times. soundcloud hyperpop and the best deathmetal can coexist here. they are lovers.
EXAMPLES OF RAAH - we belong together - luvwillow ,This mirror isn't big enough for the two of us - my chemical romance , privately owned spiral galaxy - crywank , I'm the type of person to take it personal - breathe carolina. - waaugh - stuff that gives you a pit in your stomach, not quite wanting to reach out to the universe like twang, but to look at yourself and think about your life while you cry kinda beat. notably a little sad, an ache settling into you, seeping into your bones. feels deep and blue, numb in pain, or something that really seems to perfectly describe you to the point you identify with the song. can be loud too, and feel slightly warm, one metaphor away from twang but not quite, you know? . quiet tears at the end of a mixtape, or remembering that we're only human, our lives are short. existential dread and die hard love songs are celebrated in tradgedy here.
EXAMPLES OF WAAUGH - So much (for) stardust - fall out boy , Turtles all the way down - sammy copley , How to never stop being sad - Dandelion hands , You weren't meant to see that - the rare occasions. - ahh - this is music that makes you sigh. puts you at ease and soothes your weary soul. doesn't bring up any deep questions but maybe makes you observe and turn inward peacefully. not quite bound to anything, but definitely not a stranger to happiness. summer songs, study lo-fi, a reflective monolouge track. everything is OK with these songs. not in an oblivious way, but truly simply just alright. in a little world of it's own.a genre that is rare to find, but lovely when you do.
EXAMPLES OF AHH - wading in waist high water - fleet foxes , inching - yotam perel , vanilla curls - teddy hyde , hey lover - daughters of eve.
